I grew up in rural Victoria and completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts , majoring in painting at RMIT Melbourne. Soon after completing my degree I left Australia to continue my studies in Europe where I lived & worked for many years. My love of travel & fascination for the synchronicity of architecture & landscape is what I am most drawn to paint. The work of Paul Klee in particular & Gabriele Muenter as well as Ginger Riley continuously inspire me. I use colour & form to evoke a memory of a place. I want to capture the spirit of a region or area. My pictures are not meant to be realistic depictions of any one specific location, but rather a reminder of places the viewer may have travelled to & enjoyed.
The landscape is interpreted in a very personal way & I am particularly interested in how buildings , no matter how humble or grand , fit into that landscape. I use bold colour & deliberatey distorted shape to recapture these special moments, like snapshots playing with scale & perspective.
I have taught Art for many years & have exhibited both in Australia & Europe.
